Day 1: April 16
Fly To Italy
Depart the United States for an overnight flight to Europe and the charm of Italy. Depart Minneapolis on April 16 for an overnight flight to Rome, arriving on April 17. The group flight schedule can be found at the bottom of the page.
Day 2: April 17
Arrive In Rome
Buongiorno & welcome to Italy! A local guide will join us for an orientation tour of Rome. We will see Roman classics such as the Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, Piazza Navona and the Pantheon. Later we check into our centrally located hotel (check-in is at 3 PM). Tonight, mingle with fellow travelers during our Italian Welcome Dinner, hosted by Bobby Jensen.
Included Meals: Welcome Dinner

Day 3: April 18
Colosseum & Roman Forum
After breakfast, we'll walk with our local guide to one of the most recognizable landmarks in the world, the Colosseum.
Rather than simply seeing it from the outside, we'll step inside and learn what life was like here nearly 2,000 years ago. We'll continue along the Via Sacra toward the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill, surrounded by the remains of ancient Rome.
The afternoon and evening are yours. Find a neighborhood café, enjoy a long Italian lunch, do some shopping or simply wander the streets and see where Rome takes you.
Dinner is on your own tonight.
Included Meals: Breakfast
Day 4: April 19
Rome Leisure Day & Food Tour
Today is intentionally left open so you can experience Rome your way. You may want to visit Vatican City and see St. Peter's Basilica, the Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel, spend time in the Villa Borghese Gardens, shop along Via del Corso or simply enjoy a slower day exploring Rome's neighborhoods, cafés and piazzas.
Tonight, we'll come back together for one of our favorite ways to experience a city: through its food.
A local food expert will take us through the streets of Trastevere for an evening of Roman food and wine. Along the way we'll sample street food, regional cheeses paired with wine, a traditional Roman course and, of course, gelato.
It's less of a traditional dinner and more of an evening spent eating, drinking, and experiencing one of Rome's most enjoyable neighborhoods.
Included Meals: Breakfast, food & wine walking tour

Day 5: April 20
Naples - Pizza Making Class – Sorrento
This morning we're off to Naples, traveling by train from Rome. Our luggage will travel separately by coach, making the journey easy for everyone. Once in Naples, we'll meet our local guide and head into the historic center. We'll explore the streets and neighborhoods that give Naples its unmistakable personality, including Spaccanapoli and Via San Gregorio Armeno.
Then comes lunch—but we're going to have to make it ourselves!
We'll join a local pizza maker for a hands-on Neapolitan pizza class. Learn how the dough is made, hear the story behind Naples' most famous creation, and then make and enjoy your own pizza.
After lunch, we'll continue south to Sorrento and check into our hotel. The evening is yours to start exploring this beautiful coastal town.
Included Meals: Breakfast, Pizza Making Class
Day 6: April 21
Pompeii Historic Site - Wine & Limoncello Tastings
Today brings together history, food, wine and some incredible scenery.
We'll begin at Pompeii, where a local guide will take us through the streets of this remarkably preserved Roman city. Walking through homes, temples and public spaces gives you a completely different sense of what everyday life was like before Mount Vesuvius erupted in A.D. 79.
From Pompeii, we'll head to a family winery on the slopes of Mount Vesuvius. We'll tour the vineyards before sitting down for a traditional lunch paired with five local wines, surrounded by views of the volcano and countryside.
On our way back to Sorrento, we'll stop at a local lemon garden for a taste of one of the region's most famous specialties: limoncello.
The evening is yours in Sorrento.
Included Meals: Breakfast, Lunch

Day 7: April 22
Amalfi Coast
This morning, we’ll experience one of the most spectacular coastlines in the world, the Amalfi Coast. John Steinbeck once described it as “a dream place that isn't quite real when you are there and becomes beckoingly real after you have gone.”
It is easy to understand why. Colorful villages seem to cling impossibly to the cliffs, mountains drop dramatically into the Mediterranean, and every turn reveals another incredible view.
We’ll spend the day exploring this unforgettable stretch of coastline by land and, weather permitting, from the water as well, giving us a chance to see the Amalfi Coast from two completely different perspectives.
We’ll visit Positano, one of the coast’s most iconic villages, with time to wander its steep lanes, browse the shops and cafés, and take in the extraordinary setting overlooking the sea. We’ll also have time in Amalfi for lunch and exploring before continuing high into the hills to Ravello.
In Ravello, we’ll visit Villa Rufolo, where the gardens are every bit as dramatic as the coastline itself. Perched high above the Mediterranean, the terraces seem to hang over the cliffs, with sweeping views across the sea and mountains below.
Transportation may vary depending on weather and local conditions.
Dinner is on your own tonight.
Included Meals: Breakfast
Day 8: April 23
Isle of Capri
One more day on the water—and this time, we're heading to Capri, weather permitting.
We'll depart Sorrento aboard private boats and cruise along the coastline before making our way around Capri. Along the way we'll see the island's caves, dramatic cliffs, hidden coves and the famous Faraglioni rocks rising from the sea.
Once on Capri, you'll have free time to experience the island however you'd like. Explore the shops and cafés, find a beautiful spot for lunch or simply take in the views and atmosphere that have made Capri famous for generations.
Back aboard our boats, we'll continue around the island and, weather permitting, stop for a swim in one of Capri's beautiful bays before returning to Sorrento.
Tonight, we'll gather for our farewell dinner. It's our final evening together and a chance to enjoy one more great Italian meal before heading home.
Included Meals: Breakfast, Farewell Dinner

AIRPORT TRANSFERS
Airport transfers are included for guests traveling on the group flights. Guests who purchase their own airfare may also use the included transfers as long as their flights arrive in time to meet the group transfer on arrival and depart at the same time as or after the group transfer to the airport on departure day.
Guests whose independent flight schedules do not work with the group transfer times will be responsible for their own airport transportation. Defined Destinations is happy to help arrange a private transfer if needed, at an additional cost.
Regarding flights, we always try to use Delta Air Lines and its partners whenever possible. However, there are times when group airfare on Delta is significantly higher or the schedule is not as convenient.
For this trip, we are using Lufthansa because it offered the best combination of pricing and flight schedule for the group.
Guests are always welcome to arrange their own airfare on their preferred airline, or we can assist with those arrangements. Many of our travelers choose this option, especially if they are loyal to a particular airline and would like to use or earn frequent flyer miles.
If your preferred flight arrives before or after the group flight, we can also help arrange an airport transfer if needed.
If you would prefer to fly on another airline, simply book the land-only option and arrange the flights that work best for you.
