From Munich, travel south into the Bavarian Alps to Garmisch-Partenkirchen, a picturesque alpine town surrounded by dramatic mountain scenery and traditional Bavarian architecture.

Day 4: SEPT. 29
Munich Oktoberfest
After breakfast, travel to Munich for a brief city orientation before heading to Oktoberfest, the world’s largest and most celebrated festival. While Oktoberfest is often associated with beer, it is truly a cultural event, filled with traditional music, colorful folk costumes, historic beer halls, amusement rides, parades, and some of the best people-watching anywhere in Europe.
One of the highlights of our visit is reserved seating inside one of Oktoberfest’s large, iconic beer tents. These reservations are difficult to secure and allow our group to fully experience the energy, music, and atmosphere that make Oktoberfest so legendary. Included is a traditional Bavarian lunch served in the tent, along with beers, providing an authentic and lively Oktoberfest experience.
For non-beer drinkers, there is still plenty to enjoy. Wine, non-alcoholic beverages, coffee, and soft drinks are widely available, and many guests find the music, food, and festive environment just as memorable as the beer itself. Oktoberfest is also a family-friendly event and welcoming to visitors of all interests.
The festival grounds are located close to Munich’s city center, making it easy to step away and explore the city independently if you wish before rejoining the group. Later in the afternoon, return to Garmisch-Partenkirchen.
