Day 1:  August 17
Fly To Oslo, Norway 

Depart the United States on an overnight flight to Oslo, Norway. Guests may choose our airfare-included package or book flights independently.  Group airfare rates and schedules mentioned at the bottom of the page. 

Day 2:  August 18
Arrive In Oslo, Norway

Welcome to Norway. Upon arrival at Oslo Airport, meet your tour leader and transfer by coach to your hotel in the city center.

The afternoon is free to begin exploring Oslo at your own pace. Stroll along Karl Johans Gate, Oslo’s main boulevard, or head to the waterfront at Aker Brygge for views of the harbor and Oslofjord.

This evening, enjoy a welcome dinner at Kaffistova, featuring a three-course Norwegian meal with bread, coffee or tea, and one glass of wine or beer. After dinner, walk back to your hotel.

Day 3:  August 19
Oslo City Tour

After breakfast, meet your local guide and coach for a full day of sightseeing in Oslo. Today’s tour includes views of the Royal Palace, National Theatre, Parliament, the Oslo Opera House along the harbor, and the medieval Akershus Fortress. Enjoy time walking through Frogner Park, home to the Vigeland Sculpture Park and its extensive collection of works by Gustav Vigeland.

Visit the Norsk Folkemuseum, Norway’s largest museum of cultural history. This open-air museum features more than 160 historic buildings from across the country, illustrating rural and urban life through the centuries, including the Gol Stave Church dating from the 1200s.

Continue to the Fram Museum and step aboard the Fram, the strongest wooden ship ever built, learning about Norway’s great polar expeditions and how explorers and their dogs survived journeys to the farthest reaches of the Arctic and Antarctic.

Day 4:  August 20
Norwegian Trains

After breakfast, transfer to Oslo Train Station and board the train to Geilo, traveling into Norway’s mountain landscapes.

Upon arrival, check in to your hotel and enjoy the remainder of the day at leisure in this alpine resort town.

Overnight in Geilo

Day 5:  August 21 
FLÅM TO BALESTRAND

After breakfast, travel by train from Geilo to Myrdal, then continue by train to Flåm, one of Norway’s most dramatic railway journeys.

Upon arrival in Flåm, meet your coach driver before boarding an eco-friendly boat for a two-hour cruise through the Nærøyfjord to Gudvangen. This UNESCO-listed fjord is one of the narrowest and most spectacular in Norway, surrounded by steep mountains, waterfalls, and small villages.

Arrive in Gudvangen and visit Viking Valley – The Viking Experience. Explore the living Viking village of Njardarheimr, where residents share daily life, crafts, and stories inspired by the Viking Age.

Continue by coach and ferry to Balestrand, crossing from Vangsnes to Dragsvik before reaching your hotel.

Dinner and overnight in Balestrand at Kvikne’s Hotel or similar.

Day 6:  August 22
FJÆRLAND & GLACIERS

After breakfast, depart on a full-day guided excursion to Fjærland, known as the Glacier Village.

Cross the fjord by ferry from Dragsvik to Hella and visit the Norwegian Glacier Museum (Norsk Bremuseum), Norway’s leading center for glacier and climate education, featuring interactive exhibits.  Continue to Bøyabreen Glacier for photo stops and commentary, offering close-up views of the glacier descending from the Jostedalsbreen ice cap.

Lunch is on your own during the day. Return to Balestrand in the late afternoon, crossing back by ferry from Hella to Dragsvik.  Enjoy the evening at leisure.

Day 7:  August 23
Balestrand & Bergen

After breakfast, depart by boat from Balestrand Kai and travel through the fjords to Bergen, arriving at the Strandkai Terminal. This scenic journey offers a final look at Norway’s dramatic coastline as you approach the country’s historic harbor city.

Upon arrival, meet your local guide for a three-hour sightseeing tour of Bergen by coach, highlighting the historic harbor area and key city sights. Enjoy a ride on the Fløibanen funicular, ascending the mountainside for panoramic views over Bergen and the surrounding islands.  The evening is free to enjoy dinner on your own and explore Bergen at your leisure.

Day 8:  August 24
Bergen

After breakfast, enjoy a free morning in Bergen to explore at your own pace. You may choose to visit one of the city’s museums, stroll through the historic harbor area, browse local shops, or relax at a café and take in daily life in this coastal city. An optional visit to Edvard Grieg’s Troldhaugen home and concert hall is also available for those interested in Norway’s most famous composer.  Tonight, join fellow travelers over a special farewell dinner.

Day 9:  August 25
Fly Home or Extend your stay

After breakfast, transfer by coach to Bergen Airport for your return flight home, or extend your stay in Europe.

Trip Deposit

A $500 non-refundable per person deposit is due at the time of registration. When you book a trip, your deposit secures your seat and allows us to confirm hotels and services on your behalf. These deposits are paid directly to our hotel partners, who require them to hold space for our group. For this reason, deposits are non-refundable if you cancel.
